Harry Potter is a series of books that features the adventures of the young wizard Harry Potter and his friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, who were wizards and witches as well. Each of the seven was written by J.K. Rowling and has been adapted into a series of movies, video games, and other merchandise related to the film. While Harry Potter is originally created as a book, the Harry Potter preview of the films made for the book has been equally as popular as the books. Especially for people who don’t have enough time to read the books themselves, watching the film in behalf of the book, gives a general background on the reading material itself. Although some parts in the film were omitted to compress the whole of the book into a full length film, the movie in general gives an overview of what you can expect have you decided to read the book after viewing the film.
The plot of the story is generally centered on the adventures of Harry Potter with the help of his friends in his struggle against the villain, Lord Voldemort. In the story, when Harry Potter was just a little boy, the evil wizard Lord Voldemort killed his parents and decided to kill him but was unable to do so. What the dark wizard has left behind Harry Potter is a lighting scar that is located in his forehead. From that time on, Lord Voldemort was believed to have lost his human form. Thus the community of wizards and witches rejoiced upon his disappearance. Because of the death of Harry Potter’s parents, he was entrusted to his non-magical relatives, the Dursleys. Non-magical folks are called muggles in the film as well as in the book. Harry Potter, despite being a wizard had to grow up and live among his muggle relatives until he reached the age of eleven, when he discovered that he is a wizard and has been invited to study in the Boarding school of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The Harry Potter preview offered by the movies made under the series gives a visual note and additional suspense to the books. In fact, if you have already read the book and were wondering how some of the magical characters would fit in the movie, watching the film can make you see how the characters like the goblins and the house elves were translated in the movie versions of the book.
There are six Harry Potter novels that have already been made into full length films. Among the six are Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Each of these films shows the adventures and struggle of Harry Potter against the evil wizard, Lord Voldemort, whose main goal to return to his human form and conquer the wizard world and the muggle world alike.
The last and final installment of the series which is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be divided into two parts. The first part of which is expected to be released on November 19, 2010.
