Dressing up during Halloween is always a fun way to spend the holiday. Harry Potter Halloween costumes have gained popularity ever since the release of the movies. From Harry Potter himself, complete with the lightning scar on the forehead, to the soul-sucking Dementors, the choices for dressing up as one of the characters in the book are quite aplenty.
Of course the easiest and most common choices to dress up as in a Harry Potter Halloween costume would be the more popular characters of the story. For example, Harry Potter or Ron Weasley for the boys while Hermione Granger and Luna Lovegood for the girls. Their attire would be the generic Hogwarts uniform that would be easy to emulate. In fact, you can mostly do this for most of the student characters in the book. Just wear dark, long robes and a red necktie; those would do fine as a uniform, while carrying a stick that would serve as a wand. It would just be a matter of wearing make-up or having additional accessories if you wish to be identified as one of the main characters in the book, like having a lightning-shaped scar on your forehead to represent Harry Potter, or wearing spectrespecs and having blond hair to represent Luna Lovegood. Lord Voldemort or one of his Death Eaters would also be a popular and easy choice. Both wear the same clothes anyway. For the Death Eaters, a long, black and hooded robe would do the trick. Although the masks they wear can be problematic. If you are a bit resourceful, you can make one yourself. A quick trip to the shopping center is fine too. Voldemort, on the other hand, while wearing the same hooded robe, his face would be harder to do on your own. The best thing to do, same with the Death Eater’s mask, would be going out on a shopping trip. Also, don’t forget to carry a stick to serve as your wand.
Harry Potter Halloween costumes, like any other Halloween costume, are best worn with a creative mind. If you feel that store bought costumes are lacking in some aspects, then improvise. You’ll find that, when you do so, you’ll come out more satisfied.
